School Closure Update for March 19, 2020

Dear Franklin County Parents/Residents:

I want to thank all of you for your patience and prayers during this time of uncertainty. I want to assure you that the Franklin County School District is doing everything possible to plan to meet the educational and physical needs of our students.
The Franklin County School District will remain closed through April 17 due to directions from Governor Reeves.
Beginning Tuesday, March 24, 2020 the Franklin County School District will provide weekly educational packets (per grade) to students throughout the closure of school. The Franklin County School District is also prepared to provide a daily meal pack (containing a breakfast and lunch) for all children under the age of 18.
The educational and meal packs will be given out by two methods:
1. Parents(Guardians) and students may come to the circle parking lot on the High School/Middle School campus from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. School employees will be in front of the High School cafeteria to hand you an educational packet for your child along with the meal pack (The child/children MUST BE PRESENT to receive the meal pack, however, they do not have to be present for an educational pack to be received).
2. Four buses will deliver educational and meal packets from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. to designated locations throughout Franklin County (Locations are provided below. Parents(Guardians) will need to be at those location during the designated times to receive the educational and meal packets. (The child/children MUST BE PRESENT to receive the meal pack, however, they do not have to be present for an educational pack to be received).
The educational packets will be distributed weekly, however, the meal packet will be distributed daily (Monday – Friday) until further notified.
Educational packet will also be provided on the Franklin County School District website and available outside each school building.
If you require further assistance in educating your child or having a meal provided for your child please call the office of the school that your child attends. It is our intention to provide for all the children of Franklin County during this difficult time.

Unanticipated School Closure Food Service Plan
The Franklin County School District will be serving GRAB AND GO meals to ALL children beginning Tuesday, March 24, 2020. Free breakfast and lunches will be available to children 18 and under. Children DO NOT have to be a Franklin County student. No ID is required. Per Federal regulations, children MUST be present to claim their meal.
Meals will be distributed Monday – Friday from 11AM – 1 PM. Meals may be received in the circle in front of the high school cafeteria or at one of the following school bus drop off locations.

Children should not leave their vehicle. The meals will be delivered to the vehicle. Each child will receive a lunch and a breakfast at the time of pick up. The lunch is intended for immediate consumption and the breakfast is intended for consumption the following day. Food safety guidance will be distributed with the meal.
Adult meals will not be available.
